Apartamento presents a new title dedicated to Can Lis, the Mediterranean residence that Jørn Utzon designed in Mallorca after creating one of the most iconic architectural works of the 20th century: the Sydney Opera House. The publication brings together photographs by Simon Watson, original plans and sketches by Utzon, and an essay by the architect himself exploring his relationship with nature and the Mediterranean environment.
Published under the patronage of the Danish furniture design brand Ferm Living, the book also includes a conversation with the Danish architect’s son, Jan Utzon, and an essay by Line Nørskov Davenport, director of the Utzon Center, offering context on the project and insight into how Utzon conceived the space in dialogue with nature and Mediterranean light.
The edition is presented in hardcover with precise, meticulous finishing. The interior features 96 pages printed in black on Symbol Tatami, followed by a 24-page section in full colour on Arena Ivory Bulk. The cover, bound in Imitlin Grigio Chiaro, features stamping and embossing, along with a chromo print on Symbol Tatami applied by hand and printed using LED UV offset. Completing the book are endpapers in Woodstock Grigio, a flat spine, and black headbands. All papers used are by Fedrigoni Paper.
