To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Arnold Schönberg’s birth, Philharmonie de Paris Éditions and Contrechamps Éditions are publishing Arnold Schönberg – Writings 1890-1951. This volume brings together more than 330 texts, many previously unpublished, covering his work, music, art, politics, and other reflections, offering a deep insight into the composer’s thoughts in the most comprehensive edition to date.
The writings have been translated by Jean-Pierre Collot and edited by Jean-Pierre Collot and Philippe Albèra. Co-published with the support of the Centre National du Livre and the Fondation Francis et Mica Salabert, this volume stands as an essential reference for scholars of Schönberg and modern music.
With a print run of 1,500 copies and 1,536 pages printed in single ink, digital rotary printing was chosen as the best solution to ensure the optimal balance between efficiency and quality for such a production. The interior is printed on bible paper, which reduces thickness without compromising readability, and includes two eight-page inserts placed between sections. The inserts and covers are printed in four-color process on matte paper.
