Editorial Gavarres publishes El Centre Republicà, by Mònica Reverter, a book that traces the civic memory of Cassà de la Selva through an intimate dialogue between the author and her great-grandfather, Josep Cristià Bou, a former republican mayor. The work offers an emotional yet documented reading of a past erased by Francoism, giving voice to a family history marked by political commitment and repression.
Co-edited with the support of the Cassà Town Council, the book features a foreword by historian Joaquim Nadal. With a first-person narrative, Reverter avoids academic discourse to provide a vivid and poetic reconstruction of events, where Cassà de la Selva and the Coma Square serve as both setting and symbol of a collective memory. The book recovers both the genesis of the cultural project of the Republican Union Center and its destruction under Francoist management commissions, becoming a vindication of erased rights and silenced memories.
At Nexe Impressions, we have given physical form to this project using digital web printing, a revolutionary technology in current editorial production. This technique allows for adjusted print runs with quality comparable to conventional systems but at much more competitive costs. It offers high definition and color fidelity, integrating inline binding processes, optimizing time and resources. The book has been printed on Munken Lynx Rough paper from Munken Paper for the interior, with black offset endpapers and matte coated covers. The hardcover binding with rounded spine and headbands is completed with a matte anti-scratch lamination that protects the cover.
