Total season is the publication accompanying the exhibition project of Secundino Hernández at the MUSAC (Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León). The book takes its title from the poem of the same name by Juan Ramón Jiménez and offers a collection of the artist’s recent work. Hernández, one of the strongest voices in contemporary Spanish painting, presents here a reflection on gesture, color, and formal construction, in dialogue with architecture and time.
Edited by MUSAC and with graphic design by Ana Domínguez Studio, the book transfers the exhibition experience into print format. The publication organizes texts by Secundino Hernández, Álvaro Rodríguez Fominaya, Joaquín Jesús Sánchez; and the artist’s paintings, photographed by Rafael Trapiello.
The photomechanics and printing were carried out by Nexe Impressions, in collaboration with Agpograf Impressors. The book combines Symbol Tatami White from Fedrigoni Paper for the interior with a cover in Colorplan Amethyst from GF Smith and endpapers in Sirio Color Limone from Fedrigoni. The interior alternates between pages printed in one color and full color using LED UV offset printing, achieving high-quality reproduction of the artist’s work, with accurate colors and sharp details. The Bodoni-style binding with cloth-covered spine and the screen printing finish in Pantone Yellow 012 on the cover and spine complete a carefully crafted edition where technical resolution supports and enhances the artist’s visual discourse.
