Or\u00edk\u00ec: Material Affirmations in Three Acts<\/em><\/strong> is the first monograph by Nigerian artist Nifemi Marcus-Bello<\/strong>, published by Apartamento Publishing<\/strong>. The book takes its name from the Yoruba tradition of praise poetry and unfolds as a journey through the artist\u2019s trajectory, incorporating a personal text written by his mother, Folake Marcus-Bello<\/strong>, as well as an autobiographical essay that connects childhood and artistic practice.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The publication is structured around the sculptural series Or\u00edk\u00ec<\/em>, divided into three acts \u2014 Friction Ridge<\/em>, Tales by Moonlight<\/em> and Whispers of a Trail<\/em> \u2014 in which Marcus-Bello works with materials such as bronze, aluminium and copper. The volume includes a foreword by Eames Demetrios<\/strong> and texts by Irene Sunwoo<\/strong>, Glenn Adamson<\/strong> and Rita Ou\u00e9draogo<\/strong>, as well as an interview with Camille Okhio<\/strong>. The project is completed with photographs by several authors: \u1eccl\u00e1j\u00edd\u00e9 Ay\u1eb9ni<\/strong>, Kadara Enyeasi<\/strong>, Erik Benjamins<\/strong>, Eric Petschek<\/strong> and the artist himself.<\/p>\n

At Nexe Impressions<\/strong>, we managed the production of the volume, featuring 128 pages printed on Munken Print White by Munken Paper<\/strong>, interleaved with 24 pages on Creator Star by Lecta<\/strong>. The cover is produced on gloss-coated paper. Printing combines black ink and a fluorescent green Pantone<\/strong> for the main interior, and full colour for the Creator Star section. The cover includes a metallic ink<\/strong>, black and fluorescent Pantone<\/strong>, finished with gloss PP lamination<\/strong> on the front and acrylic varnish<\/strong> on the reverse. The binding is sewn paperback<\/strong>, and the whole is enclosed in a dust jacket<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
