La Fábrica, one of the most iconic creations of the renowned Catalan architect Ricardo Bofill, is a former cement factory on the outskirts of Barcelona that became the centre of his life and architectural practice from 1973.
Bofill transformed the space into a world of its own, recovering the concrete forms hidden under layers of dust and smoke. The fruit is a perfect balance between monumental scale and a delicate human sensibility.
This new edition of the original 2018 book features exclusive images from the RBTA archive and photographs captured by Nacho Alegre over a decade of visits to La Fábrica. All this photographic material, accompanied by an introduction by Pablo Bofill and an interview with the architect by Arquitectura-G and Guillermo López, make the book a portrait of Ricardo Bofill’s most precious work and his legacy.
The publication, bound in a sewn hardcover and lined with Imitlin Fiandra Bordeaux paper by Fedrigoni Papers, includes a stamping on the cover, the spine and back cover. An embossing has also been worked into which the adhesive foil has been inserted. Fedrigoni’s Sirio Color Vermiglione paper has been used for the flyleaves and the inside is printed in four-colour process on Arctic Paper‘s Munken Pure and Creator Star papers.
