Outopos

Annika Thörn Legzdins

Outopos is a self-published publication by Swedish photographer and artist Annika Thörn Legzdins, who continues to explore the relationship between photography, memory and the editorial object. The artist regularly works with analogue processes and long-term projects, in which the book becomes an essential part of the artistic proposal. At Nexe Impressions, we previously had the opportunity to produce Ephemera, a publication by the photographer that was awarded the Swedish Book Art Award 2022, a recognition that highlights excellence in editorial design and production.

In Outopos, Thörn Legzdins builds a visual narrative from photographs taken with an analogue box camera inside the house where she grew up. The images document everyday textures and surfaces that act as traces of an intimate space marked by the passage of time. The publication also includes an essay by Katarina Wadstein Macleod, which contextualises the project and expands the reflection on memory and place.

The production of the catalogue combines Magno Gloss paper from Sappi, with a gloss lamination for the main section; Nautilus SPW from Mondi, used for a second section; and Keaykolour Indian Yellow from Antalis, used for the smaller-format booklet containing Wadstein’s essay printed in one black ink. The rest of the publication is produced with four-colour printing. The binding has been completed with staples and a flat riveted elastic band, while the cover is finished with a yellow screen print.
